ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — There are changes to how many dollars taxpayers might be asked to pony up for a new NFL stadium in St. Louis.
The city and state would contribute $250 million between them, instead of the originally planned $350 million, according to comments made by Dave Peacock at a breakfast on Tuesday.
Peacock, who is leading the efforts for a stadium in hopes of retaining the Rams as St. Louis’ NFL franchise, referenced these numbers at a breakfast Tuesday.
The St. Louis Business Journal reports while at the Commercial Real Estate Women of St. Louis Breakfast, Peacock said tax credits and other economic development programs could take $100 million off the public price tag.
Peacock also said he thinks Rams owner Stan Kroenke is really committed to Los Angeles, something NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche agreed with on KMOX’s Sports Open Line.
“We’ve heard Mark Davis in Oakland, and you’ve heard Dean Spanos in San Diego saying ‘We don’t want to leave our current markets,'” Wyche says, “but you have not heard Stan Kroenke say that about St. Louis.”
Peacock added it’s possible the Rams stay, but with a different owner.
